We had our third concert of our series today! Here's an excerpt from one of our musicians, Aaron Greene, about the concert sponsored by the Yale Club of Oregon and SW Washington:
The event was so much fun! We played a great arrangement of the unofficial Korean anthem called Arirang and a Portland professor gave a talk that gave a more human perspective of the North Korean capital Pyongyang. With a diverse crowd of people, it really felt like a celebration of Korean culture.
We would like to thank our guest speaker Professor Danny Kim as well as our guest musicians, Ms. Karen Wagner and Mr. Texu Kim (who created our arrangement of Arirang), and to Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Greg Calwall. Additionally, we would like to give a huge thank you to Representative Mitch Greenlick for his letter of encouragement and to the office of Commissioner Nick Fish for attending and presenting awards to our refugee students. Lastly, to Mr. Lotof of Michelle's Piano, Sweet Tomatoes, Starbucks, and Einstein Bagels for their generosity.
